5 Ways to Show Gratitude This Thanksgiving

Cashey Happiness is dedicated to bringing joy and positivity to life, and that’s why Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays. Here at Cashey Happiness, we celebrate every day to the fullest and are so thankful for the wonderful world we live in.

Showing gratitude is a great way to not only bring happiness to your own life, but into the lives of your friends and family around you as well. During the holiday season, take a minute to meditate on what you are thankful for, and use these five ways to show gratitude this Thanksgiving!

1.Keep a Gratitude Journal

Keeping a gratitude journal is a great way to form a more thankful mindset. Buy a small notebook and challenge yourself to write three things you are thankful for in it every night. This will help you end your day on a positive note, and remember the many wonderful and beautiful things in your life that often go unnoticed. Recognizing the positive instead of the negative can help change your daily habits and thoughts, and make you more thankful this Thanksgiving.

2. Spread the Love

The easiest way to show gratitude is by sharing it with others. Spread the love by making it a mission to sincerely compliment three people you interact with every day. These compliments can be simple or specific, but they should always be said with meaning. A sincere compliment will help you recognize all the great things about the people around you, and will also brighten their own days. Show gratitude this Thanksgiving with kind words and positive interactions.

3. Do Something Thoughtful

Similar to spreading the love, challenge yourself to do something thoughtful for one person in your life every day during the Thanksgiving holidays. These can include small gifts or acts of service. Cook dinner for your family, clean the house, fill up your sibling’s car with gas or purchase a small “just because” gift that catches your eye and you know is perfect for someone you love. These thoughtful acts not only improve the lives of those around you, but they also help you to think about others more than yourself, which is essential in becoming a more thankful person.

4. Volunteer

Volunteering is another way to show gratitude this Thanksgiving. There are many different places to volunteer to suit every interest and personality. Help serve dinner at a soup kitchen, spend time mentoring and tutoring disadvantaged students, or even take the dogs for a walk at the local shelter. All of these are great ways to give back to your community, while also putting your own life into perspective. Volunteering helps you see how blessed you truly are and feel grateful for everything you have.

5. Stay in the Moment

A final way to show gratitude this Thanksgiving is just by staying present. Keeping your mind in the moment instead of dwelling on anxieties of the past or future can go a long way in making you more happy and thankful. Start meditating regularly to decrease stress and focus on enjoying what you have and where you are. Being fully present will help you be more grateful for what you have instead of focusing on material wants.

Thanksgiving is all about showing gratitude. Being thankful and using this list of tips from Cashey Happiness will not only improve your life, but also the lives of those around you. Incorporating these habits into your daily routine will also make you a more positive and happy person overall. Show gratitude this year by starting a gratitude journal, giving compliments, doing something thoughtful, volunteering your time, and making a focused effort to stay in the moment this holiday season.
